In the prophet Malachi’s time (c. 450-400 BC), Israel faced challenges remarkably similar to those facing modern America: Spiritual drift, lack of moral direction, and a decline in national unity. Malachi called on all Israelites to return to God, honor their commitments, and restore their nation through a renewed focus on faith.

Similarly, America is clearly at a crossroads of her own: Church attendence has been in steady decline for decades, common sense and basic moral decency are under relentless assult, and in recent years our country has suffered scarring division on a scale unseen since the Civil War.

But even in the darkness, there's hope! And God Himself, speaking through the Prophet Malachi, makes this clear:

"Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.” — Malachi 3:7 (ESV)

This call for a return to faith and integrity echoes across centuries, encouraging us to re-establish the spiritual and moral foundations that sustain a nation.

If as individuals we turn again to God, he will meet us with open arms. So too, if we as a nation turn again to God, he will wrap his loving arms around this blessed land and make us once again a shining city on the hill!

Malachi’s message also emphasizes the importance of giving and stewardship. Ancient Israel was called to tithe and support the temple as a sign of their faith and dedication.

Malachi warns that neglecting this responsibility led to national decline, but faith-driven stewardship could restore prosperity. America, too, is called to give—supporting causes that uphold our values and investing in missions that promote faith and unity.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” — Malachi 3:10 (ESV)
